I know Nike takes old running shoes (and other thick rubber soled varieties) to make school tracks, but beyond donating to good will, I didn’t know what to do with the rest of the will-never-wear-again shoes in my closet.  This organization has drop-off bins in some retail stores, so you don’t have to mail them to a warehouse, though that is also an option.
